Telling a story through video
A few of my favorite stories told through video. Click each photo to watch.
Make people happy
This was the first video project I did for BGSU, less than a year after I started. Will Ferrell allowed people to use his song to make videos for the International Day of Happiness. I only had one week to organize the students, faculty and staff together to shoot the video and edit it. This video has over 25,000 views on our YouTube channel.
Sticking with tradition
As part of BGSU tradition, the identities of Freddie and Frieda Falcon are revealed each spring. Their identities are kept a secret all year long. This series of videos shows the excitement of these students as they express how much they loved being a mascot in order to give back to a university they love. These videos were produced by me and shot and edited by students.
Praise their success
Instead of a video recapping commencement, I wanted to showcase our students and praise them for their success. The purpose was to show prospective students what they can achieve with a BGSU degree. I was involved in doing the interviews for all of these videos. I also shot and edited a few of them and had help from students.
Faculty expertise
Along with student success, we also highlight our faculty for their expertise. My idea was to interview a statistics professor about the probability of winning the record-breaking Mega Millions lottery. Because of the pandemic, the interview was done over Zoom. I had to use stock footage and create graphics for b-roll. I produced this entire video on my own.
What they can achieve
Part of BGSU’s brand is belong, stand out, go far. I used these videos as part of our admissions social media campaign as a way to promote our university to prospective students. It has given us the opportunity to hear from students in their own words what they can achieve at BGSU. These videos were produced by me, shot and edited by students.
Our researchers
This is a video that I completely produced on my own. Researchers at BGSU’s National Center for Family and Marriage research have been cited in national publications. I tied that into a video leading up to Valentine’s Day. This interview was done over Zoom and I used stock footage and created the graphics.
